it's happening - new platform live

okay, it's happening!

the new Blendergrid platform is live!

To see what's changed watch me render a .blend file:

What's new?

Free preview frames
When you start a price calculation, we don't only calculate the price but also show some previews. Useful for spotting pink textures before rendering.

More payment options
We added more currencies you can pay in, and have a lot more options for paying in Euro now.

No Dropbox uploads (for now)
We had to drop the Dropbox upload feature to clean up our upload widget. We are planning to add it back, but we have to figure out how to do so in the cleanest way without overcomplicating it.

If you need to upload huge files, I recommend packing up the project into a .zip file and uploading that.

Auto-darkmode
When working late at night it's nice to have a proper dark mode. We automatically switch between light and dark mode based on your device settings. There's no menu button for this anymore, to keep things simple.

Old platform migration
We have migrated over all accounts, so your login should still work.

Any rendered projects have also been migrated over so you can download your frames and such.

If you need to access the old platform you can use https://old.blendergrid.com We will keep it online until the end of the month.

I hope you'll enjoy the cleaned up interface on your next render project!

If you find any issues, feel free to send me a note and we'll take care of it.

Happy blending,

Richard

(let me know if you were around at this time and remember this) I didn't know how to make a complicated website. So there was a natural constraint forcing me to keep it simple. In the beginning, that's what most people loved about it. Take Tyler for example, one of our early adopters: At the time I thought we were limiting ourselves. But in hindsight, I realise the simplicity was an asset. A feature,...
